You hear all the time about people slipping and falling at grocery stores. It’s a relatively common occurrence. You may have even seen videos on TV or YouTube or heard about the results of a case, but you never really hear about what to do if it happens to you.
Grocery store accidents often lead to troubling injuries. Sometimes the injuries are readily apparent such as a fractured or broken bone. Other times they lead to injuries that require imaging to confirm such as a torn rotator cuff or torn meniscus.
It is also not uncommon for people to strike their head on the ground when falling, leading to a concussion or more severe traumatic brain injury.
Other times you may think you’ve only suffered a sprain or bruising and that you’ll be fine in a few days.

The truth is you don’t always know exactly what type of injuries you sustained in the moments following a Dallas grocery store accident.
Your first inclination will likely be to feel ashamed and embarrassed. You may want to get up, brush it off, and pretend you’re just fine.

Maybe. Your right to recover damages in a premises liability claim is influenced by several factors. First, you need to establish you had a legal right to be at the grocery store as your classification status will impact the duties owed to you.
Next, you need to establish the water on the floor constituted a dangerous condition. Third, if it was a dangerous condition, you must establish the grocery store (or one or more of its employees) knew of the water on the floor OR should have known of the water on the floor.
Finally, you will have to establish the slip and fall was the proximate cause of the injuries you sustained. This involves the “mechanism of injury”.
