What To Do If You Slip and Fall
If you slip and fall on another person’s residential or business property, you can seek slip and fall legal damages from the owner of the property. What to do if you slip and fall varies slightly depending on the type of property (and your reason for being there). In any case, do your best to take the following steps:- Inspect the area where you fell, and try to determine what caused you to fall.
- Write down the names, addresses and phone numbers of any witnesses
- In cases of business property, speak with the manager or supervisor on duty and ask them to document the incident (and ask to retain a copy)
- Take photographs of the hazardous area where your fall took place (Dangerous conditions have a way of changing if the property owner thinks that you might file a claim for injuries; so it’s best to do this as soon as possible).
- If you slip on any substance on the floor, try to obtain a sample.
